GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): G6od. Secondly, we would.

LTG MIMAD (X): And we want to~i~~~ssure you that this was our intention
and has been, will be now, t~#t-',½,at the end of the hostilities this
will be accomplished.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Are we talking about now?

tTG AHMAD (I): Of course, now we have a system

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Good, the next thing we would like to discuss
is arrangement for release of all POWs

LTG AHMAD (I): We are fully ~~~~y now to release all POWs at once and
in any convenient way for the Red Cross. And the ways and times the
Red Cross sees

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Are you saying that we should put this entire
matter in the hands of the Red Cross to decide?

LTG AHMAD (I): Absolutely and right now.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): I would like to discuss at what time can we
begin this release

LTG AHMAD (I): At once

G~N SC~WARZKOPF (US) At what location should the prisoners be
exchanged?

LTG AHMAD (I): Any place that the Red Cross sees convenient. We will
never say no to that. At any point that the ~ed Cross sees
convenient; that is road wise, point wise, time wise, and they have an
experience with us from the POWs from the last war and we will be very
cooperative in this matter

LTG KHALID (SA): Reference the number of civilian Kuwaiti hostages
who were detained by Iraq, how will they leave Iraq when they are not
considered EPWs

LTG AHMAD (I): ~e specific please.

bTG KHALID (SA): I am talking about the 5,000 plus Kuwaitis that were
taken from Kuwait, what about them? Are they prisoners or not?

LTG AHMAD (I): We are going to give you complete nu:nbers of Kuwait
POWs that were taken as of August 8.

LTG KHALID (SA): The reason why I am asking is because we have names
of Kuwaitis that were taken by force which is as important as POW
status

LTG A~MAD (I): Once the war started, many Kuwaitis of IZ origin chose
to go to Iraq. ---As for the exchange of POWs, the Red Cross will take
care of it and~. that is~.What y.Q believe is important which is ~he'
exchange of POWs.
