LTG KHALID (SA): It's important to us because the number and names of
those Kuwaitis is unknown and i must be added to the exchange of
POWs -

LTG ALIMAD (I): For us ~ll'#"~POWs-~ill be released Those Kuwaitis who
are residing in Iraq can~' leave or stay as they wish

LTG KHAtID (SA): We nikist know o~f all the Kuwaitis residing in Iraq.

ThTG AHMAD (I): Yes. The International Red Cross will handle this
matter and those who wish to leaye Iraq can contact the Red Cross.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): I think the important point is that any one who
is taken against their will, what we agree to should be treated as a
POW and that is in principle what we agree to.

LTG AFIMAD (I): We have not taken anybody against his will, but if
there is a case like that then he will be treated as POW. If' it is
because some of them are of Iraqi origin living there and they to have
the right to go back or stay as they please

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Of course: Certainly, if someone of his own
free will chooses to leave there'that is not a question.

tTG AHMAD (I): We will give you the llst of POWs and this will be

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): In addition to all military personnel and in
addition to civilian detainees, if there are any, if there are any
journalists that are being held and if t.~ere are any civilians that
are still being held in the capacity that you called guests, we would
also like them included in these numbers

LTG AHi'~1AD (I): Yesterday the journalists were released as was
announced

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Yes, I know the four were released. I just
don't know if there are any more or not,

LTG A~4AD (I): We have released those and if there are any more we
will but as I know we don't have any more at all. We don't have any
journalists held here. If there were, we would have released them.

GEN SCHWA~ZK0PF (US): With regard to the Red Cross handling the
exchange of prisoners of war, we are very interested in this exchange
starting immediately. Unfort'Jnately, the Red Cross being a
bureaucratic organization someti~es does not move as quickly as we
might want it to.

LTG AHMAD (I): From our side, we are ready that the Red Cross can
start right now and in the method they like and in the way they like
Starting~from this very moment.

GEN SCHwARzKoPF (US): I would `like'~'t'o make `a' recommendation' I think
that it would earn a great deal of goodwill on both sides if each of
