SUBJECT: Friendly Forces and Anthrax
1.
All Friendly Force. are aware of the threat of
biological agents, especially Anthrax. I have had the
opportunity to discuss the subject with health care providers
from the various coalition countries during the periodic Friendly
Force Medical Conference (FFMC) and I know their capabilitie5 and
concerns.

During the lost recent FFMC held on 9 Jan 91, the
subject of biological warfare was on the agenda. Prevention
(including vaccination), Cheloprophylaxj5, diagnosis and
treatment were discussed.
a.
Prevention. All understand that the mask is the
primary leans of Preventing Anthrax. A mask has been issued to
all Friendly Forces personne~~ U.S. and British Forces are being
Vaccinated. Other forces in the coalition are not, due to lack
of vaccine. Brits have enough to vaccinate their people only. We
have only enough vaccine at present to vaccinate 100,000 (plus
20,000 series in reserve). We'll not have enough vaccine to
