(1) Barrier Materiel. These items are in short supply
in SWA. Deploying units should ship required amounts,
especially sand bags and barbed wire.
(2) Carpentry kits and Tools. Units should take these
items with them when they~deploy.
E. Class V.
(1) Requisitioning procedures for deploying units were
published in HQDA message, DAMO-ODO-AOC, DTG 111730 Sep 90.
This message is at ANNEX F. All Federal regulations remain
in effect governing the shipment of ammunition for DESERT
SHIELD.
(2) Accurate munitions status reporting by deploying
units is required. Quality Assurance Specialists Ammunition
Surveillance (QASAS) are available to provide assistance
from the ammunition supply point (ASP) supporting the
deploying unit.
(3) Units should also be aware of commercial port
restrictions as ammunition shipments require port authority
waivers.
(4) Units should deploy with sufficient training
ammunition for initial zero and weapon systems check out
upon arrival in the AOR.
F. Class VII.
(1) The fill objective for deploying units is Cl.
However, units are fully deployable when their overall
C-level is C3 or better for equipment on hand and equipment
readiness computations. Critical shortages should be filled
by the redistribution of excess and by cross leveling from
non-deploying units.
(2) ~MC will fill requisitions for Class VII items in
accordance with the time phased force deployment listing
(TPFDL) using the latest arrival date as the sequence. To
ensure all deployers are mission capable, AMC will fill
requisitions for class VII shortages for all deployers first
to the 65 percent level, then 80 percent level, and finally
100 percent.
G. Class VIII.
(1) Class VIII is provided to the Saudi theater
through a Single Item Manager (SIM). The SIM is composed of
the 32D and 47th MEDSOMs task organized into a single
medical depot and established as the US Army Medical
Materiel Center Saudi Arabia (USAMI4CSA). It provides the
following to all medical units in theater to include Air
