PRODUCT USER RECO~ENDATtONS
Vehicles/equipment operating in desert regions
will encounter increas~u levels of dirt
(i.e., particulate) contamination. Air that
appears clean is actually laden with fine
dust, even on a clear day. To avoid
excessive wear from ingested dust, recommend
that periods of operation (i.e., miles or hours)
required for normal oil change be reduced by
by a factor of two. To further reduce con-
tamination, recommend increased air/oil
filter servicing and use smaller sized con-
tainers of lubricant if possible which will
be consumed more quickly.
Do not use any engine oils manufactured by
either Battenfeld Oil and Grease Corporation
or Battenfeld-America Inc. The products
(MIL-L-21O4, MIL-L-2l26O, and MI~-~-46l32)
manufactured by either of these companies
were improperly formulated and will not pro-
vide satisfactory lubrication in new
operating environments.
Do not use any `fIL-L-46t52 type administrative
engine oils in place of ~IL-L-2iO4 (OE/~DO)
tactical engine oils. Administrative service
engine oils will not, repeat not perform ade-
quately in combat/tactical equipment designed
for MIL-L-21O4 engine oils.
GEAR OILS Vehicles/equipment arriving from
Depot/CONUS/OCONUS locations should be
checked to assure that the proper oil/lube
and designated grades are being used. tr
unable to identify, drain and replace with
recommended product (see "Fuel and Lubricant
Recommendations" Chart).
Do not use any gear oils manuractured by either
~attenfeld Oil and Grea~e Corporation or
3attenfeld-America tnc. The MIL-L-2tO5 pro-
ducts which either of these companies manu-
factured were improperly formulated and will
not provide satisfactory lubrication.
