PRODUCT USER RECOMMENDATIONS

GREASE S vehicles/equipment arriving from
                                Depot/CONUS/OCONUS locations may show some
                                degree of "Grease Bleeding/Softening" at
lubrication points such as wheel hubs, road
wheels, etc due to the prevailing high
                                ambient temperatures initially encountered.
                                Where this "grease bleeding/softening" is
evident, remove and relubricate with GAA
                                (i.e., either ~IL-G-OO~O924E or `!IL-G-j0924F)
or WTR (MIL-G-83122). Care should be taken
to remove (i.e., wipe clean) any excess
grease as this will a~trac~ sand particles
                                and cause contamination of grease.

BRAKE FLUIDS Vehicles from arriving Depot/CONUS/OCONUS loca-
tions should be checked to assure that the
                                brake systems are filled with
                                MIL-B-46176/BFS. If during maintenance
checks, the wheel cylinders are bled and
other than a purplish or clear fluid exit the
bleeder hose (e.~., brown-colored, two phase
mixture, etc), this indicates the presence of
                                conventional-type polyglycoi brake fluid
(e.g., DOT 3). If this occurs, the vehicle
brake system needs to be drainea, flushed at
least two times with MIL-B-46176, and
                                refilled with MIL-B-46L76.

Do not use any conventional-type polyglycol
base brake fluids (i.e., DOT-3, the cancelled
VV-B-68O, commercial brake fluids, etc) as
mixing these fluids with the silicone brake
                                fluid (XIL-8-46t76/BFS) ~ill cause possible
brake fade problems and other ~ystem al-
~unctions when subjected to these opera=ag
                                environments.

~YDRAULIC FLUIDS Self propelled artillery and other tactical
materiel currently using OHT hydraulic fluid
                                (MIL-H-6083) should wherever possible
                                chan~eover to F~ hydraulic fluid
(MIL-~-46l;O). FtLH is more capable of
sustained performance in a high ambient tem-
perature environment because it uses a
synthetic base fluid and it also offers some
fire resistance protection. Both r~ and OFiT
                                are compatible with each other.
