DISCUSSION:

The fine powdery sand of the operating area increases the
incidence of ocular disease and irritation.

LESSON(S~  LEARNED:

Personnel wearing eyeglasses should have extras if at all
possible in addition to the two pair requirement.  The wearing of
contact lenses is not recommended.   Each individual should have
several pairs of sunglasses.   Goggles should be issued and worn
for protection during severe sand storms.
