MOBILITY/COUNTERMOBILITY 5
TOPIC: Day Versus Night Movement
DISCUSSION:
Day movement raises large dust clouds that easily identify a
unit's position and movement. Night movement alleviates the dust
signature problem. However, night movement presents it's own
limiting factors, such as observation and navigation.
LESSON(S) LEARNED:
Tatical movement and resupply activities should be conducted at
night when at all possible. The use of night observation
devices, thorough route reconnaissance and navigation aids will
simplify night movement. When possible, units should conduct
rehearsals of planned night movements.
