TOPIC:   Terrain

DISCUSSION:

With concealment hard to achieve in the open desert, the reverse
slope takes on added importance.    Use of reverse slope positions
will deny the enemy direct observation of positions until he is
within range of direct fire weapons.

LESSON (S)  LEARNED:

Terrain has greater significance in the desert due to the
generally open and flat terrain.    Reverse slope positions may be
a consideration in order to achieve concealment and prevent
accurate observation and adjusting of indirect fires.
