MANEUVER - 6
TOPIC: Maneuver Tips
1. Cover can only be provided by terrain masking - difficult in
most areas.
2. In areas of little vegetation, distinct shadows are readily
observed from the air.
3. Attempt to use the angle of the sun to alter shadows.
4. Dig in and u~e overhead cover and camouflage nets to reduce
shadows.
5. Shade optics to prevent shine.
6. Observation positions should have the sun behind it and be as
high as possible to lessen the effects of mirages and heat
radiation from the ground.
7. Use target reference points to avoid engaging targets beyond
the maximum effective range of the weapon system.
8. Tactical as well as resupply movements should be done at
night to reduce detection by sand and dust signature.
9. Always attempt to conceal movement to the maximum extent
possible. Always camouflage positions.
