TOPIC:  Wearing of MOPP Gear

DISCUSSION:

The precautionary wearing of MOPP gear in a hot environment
coupled with a hard work load can result in unnecessary heat
casualties.  Unless the chemical attack is a direct hit, there is
adequate time to assume a MOPP posture of MOPP gear is readily
available.

LESSON(S)  LEARNED:

Operate at minimum MOPP levels necessary.   Reduce the physical
workload according to the MOPP level.   Overemphasis of the
chemical protective posture may result in ignoring other
important tasks.
