                             NBCD - 3

TOPIC: Characteristics of Chemical Agents in the Desert

DISCUSSION:

Chemical agents dissipate rapidly in hot weather. Hot air
convection currents carry agents upward, minimizing the vapor
hazard to ground troops.

LESSON(S) LEARNED:

1. G - Nerve Agent persistency is similar to water. In hot
weather, it will evaporate quickly but create a significant
short- lived vapor hazard.

2. Mustard Agent persistency will be reduced with an increase in
winds.

3. V - Nerve Agents hardly evaporate. It is a touch hazard with
a long persistency.
