COMMAND AND CONTROL - 1
TOPIC: Engagement Areas in Open Terrain
DISC\3SSION:
The control of direct fire is difficult in open terrain due to
the lack of identifiable terrain features upon which to orient
engagement areas.
LESSON(S) LEARNED:
In the absence of identifiable terrain, target reference points
(TRPs) can be created with damaged/destroyed vehicles that are
moved into reguired locations. Other types of markers such as IR
strobes, IR chemlights, air panels, and WP/illum rounds could
also be used.
