DISCUSSION:
The primary means of communication in desert operations will be
radio due to fast-moving encounters and the dispersion of forces.
Radio communications "dead spots" are frequently encountered in
the desert terrain due to the heavy deposit of minerals in
certain areas causing reflection and distortion.
LESSON(S~ LEARNED:
Often a small displacement to either flank, or to the front or
rear of a "dead spot," will restore clear, uninterrupted
communications.
