Medical support is provided by the Group Aid Station, which
also provides medical support to the Maintenance and Motor Trans-
portation Detachments from the General Support Group. With the
forward movement of the 2nd FSSO GAS, the Ist FSSO GAS was tasked
with providing routine and emergency medical care to those ele-
ments remaining in the Al Jubail Port area. During this period
a mass casuality plan was developed and executed as a drill at
Camp 3.
Logistic/Supply
Headquarters and Service Battalion provided a wide range of
CSS to I MEF and II MEF units in the entire area of operations.
Motor transport assets of the Bn logged over 75,330 miles, trans-
ported 445 S/T of cargo, 8,224 passengers, and dispensed over 320
gallons of fuel. Motor Transport assets consist of 61 prime
movers and 21 trailers. Commerical bus transportation continued
to the Port. Mechanical problems developed on the buses,
but were quickly addressed keeping down time to a minimum. Civi'
ian bus drivers were replaced with Marine drivers when hostiliti
broke out. Quality food service continued in spite of a large
influx of personnel arriving on short notice. Combat equipment
readiness was maintained at an average of 95% during the month.
Civic Action
The CO, Headquarters and Service Bn continued to coordin-
ates extensively with public agencies and Saudi military units on
security for the Critical Facility Camp 3. As detailed above,
were conducted with Saudi Fron-
tier Forces (Coast Guard). Recon of area North of Camp 3 con-
'ducted with representative of the Interior Ministry.

During the month of January the ISMO focused its efforts an
improving data processing support for Ist FSSG customers. The
Data Communications Section tested and installed a Packet Radio
Network in support of the forward deployed CSSDS. The FASC con-
tinues to improve service and plan for increased operations with
inbound personnel and assets
Marine Corps Exchange
The combined sales -For all exchanges during the month of
January totalled $3,269,650.78. Marine Corps Exchange total sales
to date are $7,291,943.28. AAFES impress fund stands at
$2,500,000. With the onset of hostilites the MCX greatly expanc
