INTELLIGENCE
During October 1990 Sergeant Doerr, the S-2 Clerk, completed the Basic
Intelligence Course in Virginia and rejoined the First Reconnaissance
Battalion in Saudi Arabia. In addition, Staff Sergeant Nemic, the
Battalion Intel Chief, was returned to the Battalion from First Battalion
Seventh Marines, where he had been attached during their initial deploy-
ment to DESERT SHIELD. During the month of October the S-2 has maintained
a presence at the Battalion Forward Command Post (CP), and at the
First Marine Division (Forward) Combat Operations Center (COC), and at
the Battalion rear CP. Test and evaluation was conducted in the field
ith a new FLIR device. Intelligence training for non-intelligence
ersonnel of the Battalion was conducted at the Battalions rear CP while
Orecon team briefs and debriefs have been conducted at the Eiattalions
forward CP and divisions forward COC. In addition the S-2 section has
manned -the First Marine Division Surveillance and Reconnaissance
Center (SARC) as the First Reconnaissance Battalion's representative.
LOGISTICS/SUPPLY

needs of the Battalion. The Battalion Forward Command Post (CP) was
manned with logistics and supply personnel to ensure deployed units would
receive all required support. The Battalion's special equipment locker

the mission capability of the Battalion. The Battalion's supply section
acquired new boots and night desert camouflage uniforms for the unit.
