               Subj:  COMMAND CHRONOLOGY, 1 JAN 91 - 28 FEB 91



               3 Jan 91 - C Company is attached to lst Battalion, 7th Marines
               with two platoons. This was to enable two Obstacle Clearing
               Detachments (OCD) of platoon size to breach two assault lanes
               for 1/7. lst platoon, led by IstLt J.J. Sega, is attached to
               Team Tank. 3rd platoon, led by lstlt B.E. Wilhoit, is
               attached to Team Mech. lstlt V.J. Sumang and 4th platoon of C
               Company are still attached to 3rd Tank Battalion for breaching
               operations.

               4 Jan-5 Jan 91 - Task Force Ripper FEX at Devil Dog Dragoon
               Range. The main focus is toward breaching and marking of the
               assault lanes. The terrain, full of sand dunes, does not
               allow for realistic training because:

                    1) Terrain does not compare with Southern Kuwait
                    2) Terrain does not allow Tank Bn to make full use of the
                       range of their main gun
                    3) We are not allowed to fire the line charge.

               6 Jan 91 - We moved as a task force further north, but still
               45 miles south of Kuwait. The engineer AAVs with fasci-nes
ith the column. The move is
               about 65 miles and takes most of the day.

               7 Jan-11 Jan 91 - Heavy equipment assets worked around the
               clock digging fighting positions for all the vehicles of 1/7.
               Heavy equipment available included 1 SEE tractor, 1 tram, 1 T5
               dozer and 2 D7 dozers.


               7 Jan-2 Feb 91 - The company begins to settle in with 1/7.
               Ist platoon is attached with Team Tank and 3rd platoon is
               attached with Team Mech. The company HQ is split between 1/7
               HQ element and the 1/7 logistics train. Many sandtable briefs
               are conducted by 1/7. These included:
