Asia operating area were formed into combat replacement companies
(CRC) and assigned where needed by I MEr.

personnel were in place prior to combat operations. The division
casualty reporting center was established for centralized monitoring
of all division casualties. Two reporting teams were formed, from
the G-1 (Rear) and clerks from reporting units, in anticipation of
heavy casualties. composition of each team was one officer, one
staff noncommissioned officer, and eight clerks. Hospital liaison
teams were formed to track casualties following removal from the

15. COMMUNICATIONS
When the 2d Marine Division main command post moved its location
not yet arrived. Therefore,
only critical communications assets were employed in the first field
command post. Communications center support remained at Hall 15, the
Division support Area (DSA), until access via satellite link could be
established. Initial communications for units in training areas and
live fire ranges was via single channel VHF radio only. Attempts to
establish HP communications failed due to the skip zone and lack of
clear HF frequencies.
The satellite link for the communications center was established
on 10 January 1991. Subsequently the TSC-93 provided worldwide
secure telephone service, MEF hotline G-3 to G-3, and MEF hotline ACE
to DASC. Full service on all 12 channels was not completed until 14
January due to routing and interface problems.
