area. Most Marines are bigger and bulkier then these sizes. Also
gave us small gloves for the second set of gloves. So in reality
we didn't have a second set of gloves. If we had to go through
decon we would have been out of luck.
* There were not another pair of booties for the. Booties they
had were the only booties they held throughout the whole operation.
* We did get a brand new M12, and we had no problem with that.
Very little MPS shipping was really worth our benefit. I had all
the gear back in the states and I didn't understand it.. the
concept of MPS is to get us over here and get us supplies as
quickly as possible. Some of the stuff it was there so I didn't
have to bring mine. Which was fine. But the tab aprons, DS2, STPS,
Mlls, radiac instruments, where I see it gear-wise all the new
instruments that we have out, we never saw any of them. We did
receive four MS alarms 2 days prior to us going in breach. And when
they gave it to us they had no batteries so they are actually
useless. You would think the item would have cane with batteries.
We received 2 (surnaders) which I looked over backwards for bc it
was the best piece of gear we've got because it's lightweight. I
can bloat it and reduce it in my space and I just like that piece
of gear better and I think we should do away with the M12 totally.
Just don't like it -- too much, too big, bulky and its a pain.
I would have liked to have seen the ICAD come out. And
especially for this operation because we were so spread out, we had
so much ground to cover that I think we could have gotten a better
early morning, right down at a lower unit level, so I think that
piece of gear is going to be very beneficial to (hamstring) Bns.
* RSCAAL I would have liked to have seen placed. I heard it was
going to be in place but I dont know if it ever was. To cover the
mine fields as we went through it or as we came up through -- at a
Bn level I could have employed it. To cover up 'my f ront for
handling all the EPWs that we had we were in an area for a long pd
of time, really subject to incoming which would have
been a perfect time for them to throw chemical weapons at us and if
I had this, if there was any chemical which we did receive
sometimes, then I could depend on it right away.
* I think 256SKID is a good piece of gear should be able to detect
AMTRAX the new one is supposed to, I dont know I havent seen that.
We have no way of detecting AMTHRAX or any thing else.
* CAM came in very handy. I used that almost like my MS alarm.
But bad part of that is that I only received one. I kept that in
the C Tractor with the which were portable .... FSC the
main players of the Bn. I had it going all the time, bc we were
right up behind 2 line companies. Didnt pick up any false rdings,
I did my test on it, it always checked out really well. The
batteries extended for what they said it would, they said it would
go for 8 hrs, i ran mine for 14 before i actually changed my
batteries. Ran it continuously. Didn't flip modes on it alot,
figured that would reduce my battery power. But I think that is a
really handy piece of gear and I would like to see quite a few more
in Bns. We need a couple in Chemical Casuality, a couple in decon,
possibly one around each (line) company. When you're mechanized
e outside if you would have got hit I had
one, I could have gone through and checked all the gear, their
