packs to make sure they weren't contaminated. If it would have
rolled up into a decon site. I would like to see at least one per
company. That way a co gunny could if had to, hey have they been
hit he could actually id chem casualty he could test it at a
company level before it actually comes back to us that way we could
id if it was a chemical casuey or a regular casuey. It would
reduce our time in a decon situation, could be a life threatening
to a Marine or sailor. More you have the better off you are -- at
least one.
* They used the H2S protector. High risk, go right through some
of the lines. Don't like that it takes too long to get a rding out
of it if there was a more f aster mode where it is continuwous
sucking in like the MS Alarm where it is countinuously sucking in
will give you an instant read, that would really help us out. By
the time you dump this thing and allow the to come back out
youve probably already moved 100 meters down the road, you could be
already out of it anyway. Never received any rding what so ever
when I thought maybe we had H2s, but I had a negative rding. But
at least we had something. It would have been a good piece of gear
if we had stayed at a defensive perimeter. Never long enough there
to employ it like that.
OG84 is good. Good suit. I believe in it bc Ive used it
through the line it made me a firm believer in it. only bad thing
in this operation too big and bulky for the Marines to get in and
out of AMTHRAX. The way the trenches they heated up really fast.
We didnt go into MOPP4 but we did a part in the breach MOPP2. We
cks the room they
had did not have that much room for personal gear. carried in
pack, Marines wore their OG84 bc they lasted longer. It is a good
pieced of gear but just a little too big and bulky for the
infantry.
*British suits, lightweight, good for packing.Almost perfect for
packing put in their LS Pack or their BUD Pack. Problem that Ive
seen after talking to some infantry individuals, they dislike it
due to the fact that the (charcoal) liner irritated their skin its
a little coarse. Like the texture of our charcoal alot better.
The thing I dislike about the suit , for one the sizing is all
wrong again. They kept givin4-us the smaller sizes where we need
larger and putting a hood that interferes bc their hood is designed
for their mask it is not designed for ours. We would have had to
rolled it to keep contamination from filling up back there if they
got hit.
* Rubber booties even though they tie up properly. OF course I
was riding in the tracks so I wasnt using as much physicla exertion
as they did they had to run thorugh trenches, they felt like the
booties were a burden to them. They kept coming undone they had to
stop and tie them. Booties have been a major problem for the
inf antry anyway. If we could come up with some other type of
design that would stay tied or a better f it or some sort. Have
thrown up some recommendations using velcro or suing the wash type
they would mch pref er that. I would f ind it a bigger burden f or a
NBC guy actually having to use their golosh type bc we have another
prob. We would have to size these guys and that would be anouther
sizing prob like suits. and decon, it would be nice but its also
