                 Ist SRI Group continued to support I KEF for Operation Desert
             Shield (Renamed Desert Storm on 17 Jan 91) in the Kingdom of Saudi
             Arabia. On 31 January the following Ist SRIG units were deployed to
             Saudi Arabia:

                                         NARRATIVE 8      Y


                 January 1991 found the SRI Group engaged in combat operations as a
             Declaration of War was declared on 17 January 1991 against Saddam
             Hussein and the country of IRAQ. On 31 December 1991 the SRI Group's
   Executive Officer, Operations Chief, Group CEO, a Driver and a
             communication representative from Ist Force Reconnaissance Company
             deployed to the city of IUIAFJI to establish a Forward Operating Base
             (FOB) to collect Essential Elements of Information (EEI's) against
             mounting IRAQI forces along the border of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
             Additionally, on 5 January 1991 the SRI Group established a
             SRIG Main Command Post with I MEP at Ras Safaniya. This was
             designated I MEF MAIN where the Commanding General would organize and
             control MARCENT assets. The SRI Group's Commanding Officer,
             operations officer, Logistics officer and a self sustainable staff
             were set up and in place to conduct Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and
             intelligence operations on 6 January 1991. At Camp 5 the remainder of
             the SRI Group staff set about reinforcing the Camp against possible
             terrorist acts as well as the SCUD missile threats. In all over 50
             bunkers were erected throughout the Camp. Additional Guard quotas
