Personnel and Administration
During this period the personnel section continued to
support the battalion in all administrative details and
continued to process and distribute the ever increasing volume of
mail to all companies and attachments of the battalion.
Additionally, over 150 awards were processed for actions during
Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storn. A complex embark plan for
return to CONUS, including flight manifests, equipment
accountability, and personnel inspections was executed with
outstanding results.
LogistiCS/SUpply
upon conclusion of hostilities, two camps were established to
facilitate the backloading of the battalion, Camp #1 at Al Mishab
for the turn-in of all ammunition, and Camp #2 at Manifa Bay to
facilitate logistical supply/administrative matters. Camp #1 was
merged with Camp #2 on 15 March. The final washdown and staging of
tracked/wheeled vehicles for backloading was completed prior to
the battalion's departure on 5 April. The battalion's embarkation
section coordinated the companies and commodity sections loading
of air pallets, mobile loading of vehicles for air and sea
shipping and manifest rosters for the advance party, main body and
rear party. The battalion left a 30 man rear party to finish last
minute details for sea lift equipment and provide four Marines to
the Ist Marine Division Redeployment Cell.
After our movement from Kuwait, all battalion supply
personnel were consolidated at Manifa Bay to begin redeployment
operations. A tremendous amount of work was necessary in
accounting for, and attempting to recover equipment. Items no
longer needed by individuals were turned in, and inventories were
arine
Division Supply and I MEF Supply to ensure all items were
properly accounted for and turned over to the Redeployment Cell
(RDC) for embarkation back to the United States. All class VII
items going back to MPS were signed over; excess items were
redistributed or rolled back; unserviceable assets were sent to
DRMO. All other serviceable assets were embarked for
transportation back to Camp Pendleton.
SASSY processing was stopped in mid-March, and the unit's TAC
1, 2, and 3 address was changed back to Camp Pendleton.
