The Motor Transport section accomplished the embarkation of
all admin and collateral equipment. All motor transport assets
within the battalion (160 pieces) were LTI'D, washed, and minor
repairs were completed, all within a five day period. In
addition, motor transport was tasked with the inventory and LTI's
of all 3rd Tank Battalion and 3rd Battalion, lith Marines
equipment. Due to changes in MPS policies, all paperwork required
by MPS inspectors was also completed, as well as over 200 ERO'S,
EROSL's and an itemized list of all missing SL-3 components.
Tank Maintenance conducted LTI's on all tanks and inventoried
tool boxes prior to the retrograde to Jubail for shipment.
communications
During this period, the Communications Platoon destroyed all
superseded documents, recovered and packed all communications
equipment, and prepared to embark back to CONUS.
Medical
During March, the medical staff was involved in the
redistribution of medical supplies between those required to run
sick call in CONUS and the needs in Saudi Arabia. Approximately
75 physicals were completed in Manifa Bay for those Marines who
were involved in the Stop-Loss program or had an EAS in six months
or less.
During the five weeks in Manifa Bay, approximately 60 percent
of the battalion contracted an upper respiratory infection,
primarily due to the confined living conditions. There were no
serious consequences from this viral process.
