                            UNCLASSIFIED
of refueling helicopters and passed the ten million pound mark
since their arrival in the AOR. Eight A-61s have arrived with
two to go. MAG-16 is busy with the holiday flying.

Yesterday, as a result -- in response to the terrorist
threat condition upgrade, 3d MAW went to White Charlie in the
F/A18's to add an additional six F-181s, put them on a shorter
leash, as well as the Hawk batteries upgrade alert posture, and
the plan is to add an additional section of aircraft in the CAP
on Christmas and New Years day. That's all I have, sir.

G-3 GROUND: General, in ground operational activity yesterday,
the movement of 1st FSSG assets in the formation of GSG-2
continues. we have a new boundary in effect. It's on the
   graphics today.

GEN BOOMER: Yeah, I saw it.

G-3 GROUND: For today we have left both boundaries on there for
comparison purposes. We are told that the Saudi movement has
commenced and they are clearing the zone today. The Ist Division
is going to verify that, as they move north, and notify us about
any stay-behinds; but we are told, for example, the Xuwaiti Bn in
the old expanded sector in the 8th Brigade units have already
moved north. Our liaison officer up there says there was
movement through his position all day yesterday.

Live fire yesterday, on Redleg Range, 3d Marines fired
mortars. Shepherd, 7th Marines fired TOWs. Ripper Range the AA
Bn fired line charges successfully. Abu Hadriya, 1/5 fired small
   arms.

GEN BOOMER: How many line charges?

G-3 GROUND: We don't have any numbers on that, but we didn't get
any word of failures. I'll find out, sir.

In other training yesterday, sir, since your last brief
the Division concluded its two-day NBC exercise on the 22nd. All
the major subordinate commands and the Division and MEF NBC
personnel participated. There are several lessons learned which
will help us for future operations. Regimental training was at a
low level and concentrated on various aspects of the offensive
   missions.

Tracking Army Phase II, all the Big Red 1's equipment is
en route to Southwest Asia, and their personnel flow from CONUS
has started. That's the last division to get en route for the
   Army's VII Corps.

Our own Phase II deployment, sir, Headquarters 6th
Marines, 2/2 and 1/8 flags have arrived since your last brief, in
country. MAC yesterday flew 12 missions, arrived with 501
passengers and 445 short tons. Totals to date, 11,500 some
   passengers and 4,187 short tons.
