            of Marines (weather is delta sierra for CAS; weather guessers
            completely missed with their forecast of good weather). TF
            Grizzly receiving sporadic artillery fire. Every@@hing going
            extremely well.
                     0800--CNN announced Marines have landed on Faylaka
            Island and are in control of the island. Also announced that
            paratroopers have landing in the vicinity of Kuwait City (OPDEC
            plan is in effect).
                     0813--1/6 through second breach; 2/2 and 1/8
            progressing well. Four or five vehicles with mechanical
            failures. Sporadic artillery fire.
                     0942-2D MarDiv through both breaches. 2nd Tiger
            Brigade moving through. lst MarDiv has elements of three
            regiments through Ist breach. 3/11 moving through lst breach.
                     0949--8th Marines report chemical mines detected by Fox
            Vehicle; possible nerve/blister agent in first mine field; G-4
            follow-up believes detection is false alarm.
                     0952-USARCENT update: 101st at FOB Cobra with Ist BDE.
            No enemy contact. French have secured OBJ Rochenbeau with no
            enemy contact.
                     1026--J-2 reports two Iraqi armor BNs moving from 3rd
            armored division area to meet Marines at the first breach.
                     1142-I MEF G-3 reports F/A-18D hit by enemy AAA, engine
            fire, going feet wet (aircraft made it safely back to home
            base).
                     1210--2D MarDiv continues to push all forces through
            breaches. 1/6 has 500 EPW. 1/8 receiving sporadic indirect
            fire from unknown system. 2D LAI is north of 2nd obstacle belt
            with 1/6. 3/11 set-up and ready to fire at 1003 local.
                     1319--TF Ripper through 2nd obstacle belt. JFC-E at
            Mina Saude; thousands of Iraqis north of their position waving
            white flags.
                     1340--LtGen Boomer to CINC: both divisions rapidly
            building combat power. Plan to be at Phase Line Red by tonight.
            Ist MarDiv moving toward Al Jaber airfield. JFC-N to cross LOD
            1500/1600C.
                     1408-2000 to 3000 EPW in Ist MarDiv sector. 2/7 taking
            incoming fire from three directions. 3D Tank Bn engaged in tank
            battle.
                     1420-TF Ripper, located 3 Km north of the 2nd breach,
            is engaged by an unknown tank force supported by artillery;
            artillery fire is heavy. Close in battle, there have been
            friendly casualties. Battle is complicated due to number of EPW
            on hand. AV-8Bs, eight TOW Cobras, and A-10s inbound. Priority
            of air being directed to Ist MarDiv. 1/25 ordered to move north
            and pick-up EPW. Problem with not enough transportation. TF
            Papa Bear through 2nd breach.
                     1430-French attacking OBJ Rochenbeau (1200C). Took 200
            EPW, more wanting to give up.
                     1451-Estimate 5000 EPW in USMARCENT AOA. Tank battle
            improving with load up of CAS to Ist MarDiv.
                     1500--TF Ripper no longer in contact with enemy.
            Destroyed four T-62's and remainder broke contact. TF Ripper
            continues north.
