                      4) To  be operati              e-it-is felt that each
                      Battalion should'              rge scale decon exercise
                      while being supported by the Division Plt. Anticipate thiq
                      being complete by mid to late Nov 90.

            e.        What significant operational deficiencies remain after
                 (@closure/stand-up?

                      1) The equipment shorta  -ges/needed increases mentioned
                      above.

                      2) T/O increase in 57020s/5711's at the Division level and
                      a T/E for the Division Decon Plt.

                      3) chemical monitoring capabilities are old and slow when
                      utilizing the M256 kit. Modern equipment, such as the
                      Chemical Agent Monitor (CAM), the ICAD, and the Army's
                      "Fox" vehicle ataimore accurate and speeds up the process
                      of monitoring/detection of chemical agents.

                      4) Mass Contaminated Casualty Treatment is still of great
                      concern. Whether enough medical personnel, equipment and
                      facilities will@bd available to handle these casualties has
                      yet to'be seen.7 This Division plans on executing a mass
                      Contaminated Casualty Exercisb in the near future and will
                      continue tb periodically.'

                      5)  Water availability:

                          a) There is also some concern about having enough
                          water itvetilable"and the assets to transport it. We are
                          pursuing the following possibilities:

                             CSSD on call water support
                             use of.existing wells/oasis
                             uae'of"civillah firefighting equipment
                             the 6f dxistifi civilian facilities with water lines

                          7 implanting   full water bladderg/tanks in the ground

         3. W4th  the forming of thb'ffPrb4liiional'Decontamination Platoon" and
         the equipment now on hand, I feel a good job of Hasty Decon can be
         performed, and an&ddequAt6 job"'o'i'@Deliberate Decon can be done. As
         equipment increases, so will decon capabilities.
