          15   A hospital exchange opens for staff and patients to purchase
               essential items; a 10,000 dollar imprest fund account opened
               at AAFES in Dhahran. U.S. Postal Service offers free mail
               service for U.S. troops participating in Operation Desert
               Shield.

          15 - FH5's only Blood Gas machine arrived.

          16 - First Captain's Call held.

          16 - The first E-5 Navy wide advancement exam was administered to
               93 FH5 personnel.

          16 - First CPO frocking ceremony held.

          16 - First enlisted advancement, HMI Melvin Lane of Med Repair.

          16 - First portable radiological exam, an elbow series in Prop
               and Hold.

               on a FH5 staff member.

          19 - The first daily PA system checks were put into effect.

          19 - First Aerial photos of the command were taken by HM2 James
               Moyer.

          19 - Four defibillators became operational on medical wards,
               allowing for cardiac resuscitation.

          20 - An outdoor large-screen movie theater opens. Movies are
               shown nightly.

          20 - First patient death at FH5.

          21 - The first SCUD missile alert is sounded, and the first anti-
               terrorist awareness class was held.
