                   This study examines a total of 43,552 enlisted National
          Guard members deployed to Southwest Asia during Operation Desert
          Shield/Desert Storm, with the following characteristcs:

                                   Male - 39,344 (90.31;)
                                   Female - 4,208 (9.7?s)
                           Race:
                                   White - 34,367 (78.9t)
                                   Black - 8,060 (18.5P6)
                                   other - 1,125 (2.6*6)
