listing of approved host country food sources. The listing

(4) Status of heat injury prevention measures: Use of
commercial carbohydrate/electrolyte beverages has not been -
recommended as a heat injury prevention measure. The primary
purpose of such beverages is to provide calories and
electrolytes. There is no evidence that these beverages
enhance mental or physical performance when used.
c. Characteristics of the area of operations. information
on poisonous snakes and treatment of snake bites has been
provided. See Encl 3: Information Papart SGPS-PSP, 17
September 1990, Subject, Poisonous Snakes of Saudi Arabia.
d. Health status of the command:
(1) Immunization status: Some units/individuals were
reported to have deployed without having a current
meningococcal immunization (within 5 years). ARCENT Surgeon
will provide follow up. Plans for the purchase of increased
amounts of meningococcal vaccine, typhoid vaccine, and immune
serum globulin have been approved. Guidance on the 1990-91
influenza immunization program for Desert Shield have been
provided. See Encl 4: Memorandum, SGPS-PSP, 29 Sep 1990,

(2) Disease and nonbattle injury:
(a) Based on reports received,, as of C66, the
rate of hospital admissions for DKBI is 2.59/1000
soldiers/week. A formal reporting system for outpatient DNBI
data is being established by the ARCENT Surgeon. Based on
reports for outpatient visits for the week of C59 - C66 the
following rates/1000 soldiers/week were calculated:
