                            (b) Six (6) cases of an illness compatible with
              Sandfly Fever were reported 26 September. Laboratory
              confirmation is pending. one (1) case of possible
              Schistosomiasis was reported on 3 October. See Encl 7:
              Message, 82nd ABN, 26160OZ September 1990, Subject, MED 16;
              Message, 5th MASH, 030914Z October 1990, Subject, Report of
              Schistosomiasis.


              3. CURRENT SITUATION

                  a.   Estimates:

                       (1) Heat casualty clusters reported: None.

                       (2) water/food/vector disease outbreaks reported:
              None.

                  b.   Resources available: ARCENT Preventive Medicine
              Officer has been assigned. Preventive medicine assets continue
              to improve. See Encl 8: Preventive Medicine Assets.

                  C.   Preventive medicine courses of action: Continue to
              assist in improving DNBI reporting. Closely monitor disease
              threat in the theater to identify major disease outbreaks.
