     APPEVDIX 4 TO ANNEX X TO 24TH ID (M) FIELD SOP
     MEDICAL

             (a) Marking and Recording of Morphine Sulfate.    Attach empty styrette to
     outer clothing or to bandage fastened to the patient's chest. Ingert needle through
     cloth and bend it over to form a hook. Do not attach the gtyrette to blankets or
     other materials which may cover, but are not worn by or fastened to the patient.
     Write the dose (16 mg), route (IM), date, and time on the patient'g Field Medical
     Card or its equivalent.

             (b) Marking and Recording of a Tourniquet. A capital letter 'T' will be
     placed on the patient'g forehead when a tourniquet is applied. The location, time,
     and date of application will be annotated on the patient'g Field Medical Card (DD
     Form 1380) or on a substitute tag to be appended to the patient.

             (c) Marking and Recording of Possible Spinal Injury. A capital letter 'S'
     will be placed on the patients forehead if a spinal injury Is suspected.

          b. Property Exchange. Whenever a patient is evacuated from one medical
     facility to another, medical items of equipment remaining with the patient will be
     exchanged by the receiving agency with the transferring agency. Medical property
     accompanying patients of allied nations will be returned at once, if possible. Items
     such as stretchers, nonexpendable splints, blankets, etc., are to be immediately
     replaced by the receiving nation, who will hand over functional equivalent items in
     exchange for those received.

           c. Evacuation of EPW'S. See paragraph 7.

           d. Surface Evacuation:

                (1) When required, vehicles organic to unit medical platoon/gection will
     evacuate patients from aid posts or site of illness/injury to unit aid stations.

                (2) Medical companies will evacuate from unit aid stations except:

                    -(a) When aeromedical evacuation requests are fulfilled.

cal elements oO the aviation brigade, engineer battalion,
     artillery battalion, and air defense artillery battalion will normally conduct
     rearward evacuation to division clearing Station using their organic vehicles. If
     further support is required, they will request assistance from the supporting medical
     company.

           e. Air Crash/Rescue.


                (1) This mission will be conducted in the game manner as normal air
     evacuation missiong.

                (2) Fire-fighting capability does not exist due to the absence of
     authorization of fire-fighting equipment.
