GENERAL. This SOP describes the procedures for defensive operations against
NBC attacks.

3. ORGANIZATION
CO NBC Control Party consists of 1 NBC Officer,l NBCNCO and I alternate.
CO Chem Alarm Teams consists of 2 soldiers per alarm.
CO Chem Detection Teams consists of 2 soldiers per section.
CO Radiological Teams consists of 2 soldiers per detection unit.
CO Decon Team consists of the alternate NBCNCO and 5 soldiers
BN NBC Control Party consists of I NBC Officer and I BN Staff/Ops NCO.
4. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
A. MOPP levels will be determined by the CO and leaders on site.
MOPP levels will not be downgraded from the minimums set by BN HQ,
unless an emergency exists.
B. Specific details are contained in the BN HQ NBC SOP@'s 3-4 and 3-100
5. NBC WARNING
The following methods will be used to alert all soldiers of a NBC attack:
AFTER MASKING
A. Metal to metal rapidly beat together.
B. Zhe visual arm signal for NBC attacks.
C. The vocal alarm of "GAS" or "SPRAY" for bio or chem:"FALLOUT" for nu(
D. Three (3) short blasts on a vehicles horn,repeatedly.
The NBC warning is relayed to all soldiers in the immediate vicinity.
Individuals then take cover and go to MOPP 4. If any contamination is on
soldier,they will decon theirselves, with the M258 decon kit.
6. ACTIONS AFTER A NBC ATTACK
Leaders need to (accomplishment of mission must receive first considera@4
A. Assess the situation and check for contamination.
B. Decontaminate.
C. Put out fires.
D. Check weapons systems.
E. Check structural damage.,
F. Right.overturned vehicles and pull maintenance.
G. Improve cover.
H. Prepare for fallout (NUCLEAR).
I. Mark contaminated areas.
J. Ensure no contaminated food or water is consumed.
