COL Trask, LTC Lively and CW3 Brandow returned to Riyadh.
It is difficult to find a footprint and life support for units to
be deployed forward. The remainder of the 422nd Med Det will
have to wait 10-12 days before deployment forward. Still
awaiting word from FORSCOM as to arrival of 32 Veterinary
personnel from CONUS.
COL Trask and COL Alm met with CENTAF Security Police
commander and learned of several new NWD's arriving in Theater
prior to 10 January. This will require attending service at
several new Air Force sites. Upon arrival of new Veterinary
personnel, some will be placed at 3 Air Force sites to better
provide food inspection and MWD service. Sites to be serviced
are Jeddah for Western S.A., Al Kharj for Central S.A. and UAE
for the Rim countries. The new approved list was published for
January.
4 Jan 1991
CPT Adams and his medical service team of the 483rd Med Det
transferred back to Eastern Province. CPT Adams and his MST will
take over Port and Dhahran AFB responsibilities previously
covered by CPT Martinez and his 248th JA team. CPT Martinez will
move to previous site of the 73rd Med Det (Pulaski)
5 Jan 1991
COL Alm busy with MEDCOM problems, new furniture, new
computers and cars received today for the MEDCOM. Veterinary
office now has new phone numbers. Civ 966-1-498-9485, TAC-Secure
9-7804-692 & STU III Secure 9-7804-580. Dairy equipment test set
has finished getting approval and has been ordered direct from
DPSC. All MEDCOM personnel received training on pistol range.
MAJ Schiller of the 442nd Med Det currently at Log Base Bravo has
established office in the host nation warehouse forward. COL Alm
met with CENTCOM Surgeons office to coordinated possible CA
programs upcoming in OMAN. Veterinary support will be provided
d.
6 Jan 1991
All Veterinary personnel along with other MEDCOM personnel
to receive additional BW immunizations. All personnel also
received updated GG shots. All Vet personnel of the 320th Med
Det and 423rd finally relocated into new billeting and office
space. Not adequate but will suffice. No commo and probably
won't have for several weeks. LTC Platt performing several
sanitary inspections in Riyadh area.
7 Jan 1991
CW3 Brandow flew to Dhahran to spend 5 days with 483rd and
422nd Med Dets. Will organize rations inspection program for the
Theater. COL Alm notified by MAJ Brogdon, FORSCOM that
