additional Vet personnel in CONUS have moved to their mobiliztion
station. Can't expect arrival until around 20th of January. CPT
Rodney Thomson should arrive around 15 January. COL Alm and CW3
Brandow wrote and distributed a new Theater Policy letter on
disposition of subsistence in case of an NBC attack. COL Alm
talked to COL Barck in Europe to coordinate ARCENT performing
upcoming dairy inspection and USAREUR sanitaries in Bahrain. The
30th Med Group of the 7th Corp has been reassigned to beef up the
332nd Med Brigade. Has no effect on 7th Corps Vets.
8 January 1991
Higher level of alert throughout Theater. COL Alm received
new clerk typist, 71L, SPC Freeman, however, she must pull guard
duty for next 10 days.
9 Jan 1991
COL Alm called DPSC in reference to dairy equipment
ordered. Referred to HSC for coordination. COL Alm talked to
COL Smith, PERSCOM. COL Alm's request to delay retirement has
been denied. MAJ Gaiser needs to resubmit paperwork for foreign
tour extension, COL Alm talked to Dr. Norman Heidelbaugh at
Texas A&M University to obtain letter of acceptance at Texas A&M
for CPT Tim Adams. MAJ Gaiser has taken over as custodian of M&M
compound.
10 Jan 1991
Higher level of alert. Need special orders now to travel in
civilian clothes on the economy. COL Alm published Theater
message on Babesiosis.
11 Jan 1991
COL Trask traveled to Dhahran to attend Eastern Province
meetings. COL Alm busy coordinating Hospital B Ration receipt
and distribution. Many new hospitals arriving in Theater and
Hospital B's have been lost as hospital B's are tracked with
Unitized and non-unitized B rations. Host nation contractor is
providing Hospital B's upon request until distribution and
ordering system is straightened out. EPW rations are going to be
are the refugee rations.
15,000,000 rations to be received from Host Nation. Tasked
veterinary personnel to inspect procurement sites for EPW and
refugee rations. Most are coming out of Jeddah area.
Problems with packaging of the "Lunch Bucket" meals was
reported by CW3 Brandow, pictures were taken and report to
follow. Problems are similar to that seen with the MORE ration.
An in depth inspection is to be conducted on lot 7/90 MRES.
Problem was reported regarding the assemblers seal of the main
menu not adequately sealed. Inspection personnel are getting
spread thin in Eastern Province. Arrival of 32 new personnel is
Critical.
