T'hd TF engineers began building large rectangular birms to
facilitate an EPW collection point -For the task force. As the
EPW's were being collected the TF received a FRA(30 that an
artillery prep would begin at 1430 and at 1300 the'TF would
continue the attack to PL Colorado. The TF conducted refueling
operations as TM Al TM D and the scouts observed PL Wisconsin for
obstacles. At 241341, TM A moved forward to within 500 meters of
the trenchline and reported that numerous pickets were along PL
Wisconsin but no wire.
At 241500, the TF continued the attack and breaching
gpiration. TM A and TM D each cut two lanes simultaneously
through the enemy barrier and then secured the far side of the
breach in support by fire positions. TM 13 and E @(-) provided
direct suppressive.fire on the enemy defensive posi@ ons to the
east of the breach lanes. Mortar and artillery fire continued to
-Fall east of the breach along the trenchline. After TM A and TM D
were set TM B and TM C passed through the cleared lanes and began
attacking east down the enemy trenchline. E Co(-) followed TM B
through the breach and then moved to the north to screen the TF
following TM D to react to a possible enemy counter attack from
the north. TM A followed TM C attacking along the second enemy
trenchline and utilized the tank plows to cave In enemy
trenches. TM A would continue to move behind T@i:C and TM 8 in a
support role and utilize its tank mine plows to cave in enemy
trenches. Fnemy resistance was moderate, the speed with which
the TF cleared the obstacle was overwhelming for'thl- Iraqi
soldiers. The e,:ecution of thL, breach and attack was fastp
ctly as rehearsed.
(U he TF continued to attack to PL Colorado with moderate enemy
resistance. The capability of the TF weapons'systems were an
insurmountable problem to the It-aqi's., The TF was e-4tremely
accurate at destroying vehicles and blint-ers with the Ml at ranges;
LIP to 2600M. The 25MM gun on the Bradley destroyed vehicles and
personnel at ranges Lip to 2200M, as the TOW missile destroyed
targets at ranges up to 3700M. Numerous Iraqi soldiers
surrendered after simply bl-itig overwhelmed at the speed and
massed firepower of the attack. F7or the remainder of the dayi..
the TF continued to police up prisoners, destroy enemy bunie@s,
and equipment, and refit in preparation for continuing the attack
the -Following day. The TF had cleared In zone for.28kms, captured.
600 prisoners and received no casualties
At"250802CFeb9i following a one hour artillery prep the TF
cruised the LD, PL Colorado, and continued to attack east towards
PL New Jersey. As the TF continued to clear bunkers and trenches
again numerous Iraqi soldiers began to surrender. Iraqi tanks
and other vehicles were destroyed with long range fires as the TF
pressed the @ttact,. Among the EPW's captured was a brigadier
general who stated that he was e@:perting to be nttarled by a
light infantry unit and that he had.no chemical munitions.
