      18 Feb 91: Daily 2ACR meeting at 1500. D Company goes back to Logbase Echo
      to pickup three graders and two dozers. Class I and water resupply is broke
      at Regiment level. Commander gets a Magellan GPS.


      19 Feb 91: The ground war count-down is put on hold awaiting the outcome of
      peace initiatives by the Soviet Union. Commander attends a coordination
      meeting with the EN LNO from IAD and 3AD-- the divisions following Blue
      Babe in the attack.



      20-21 Feb 91: Daily 2ACR meetings/updates continue. S-4 makes runs to LBE
      to pick up water and MEES. LT Wither goes to KKMC to clear FOO accounts and
      pick up more money. Din of artillery is constantly in background.


      22 Feb 91: President Bush issues an ultimatum to Iraq to comply with UN
      resolutions by 1200 hrs on 23 Feb. The Battalion begins task organization
      to conduct the assault breach. Battalion starts to take PB pills agains. D
      and B companies link up with A and C Companies respectively, well forward
      in the 2ACR attack formations.



      23 Feb 91: Ultimatum time passes without response by Iraq. Today is G-1
      and the Battalion starts reduction of the berm between Saudi Arabia and
      Iraq. Assault breaches are made by A and C Companies, so the 2ACR can
      croag the Line of Departure. B and D Companies follow up clearing clearing
      lanes to for Follow-on forces of VII Corps. HHC moves forward to just
      behind the berm.



      24 Feb 91: The ground war starts today (G day). The Battalion crosses the
      border from Saudi Arabia into Iraq. The mission of the Battalion is to
      support the 2ACR, whose mission is to screen, fix, and destroy the Iraqi
      Republican (3uard Forces. (For a complete narrative of the '100 Hour War'
      see enclosure 1.) RCO tells Battalion to leave all heavy equipment behind,
      but we  take four dozers with us. They are difficult to move but they may be
      needed  later. That night is spent traversing a deep escarpment.

      25 Feb  91: 0200 - Battalion (-) closes on AA. Rate of march is between 5
      10 mph  when unit is moving. LD at 0600 trying to line up on RSS's right
      flank.  1500 - Battalion (-) moves into an AA. S-4 makes logpac runs to RSS.
      A/C/84  move into hasty defense. We are about 40 miles into Iraq. B Company
      picks up about 60 - 100 EPWS.

      26 Feb 91: Last night three soldiers from C Company were killed and three
      were wounded in action. Winds blowing between 35 - 50 mph. Battalion (-)
      remains in place all day, but we can see Ist ID passing to our east flank.
      50 EPWs surrender to us aid are transferred to RSS on the commercial 20
      ton truck.



      27 Feb 91: 0615 - Battalion (-) moves 20 miles eastward. The 2ACR is now
      the VII Corps reserve force. lat AD, lst ID, lat CD, 3rd AD. Ist AD (UK)
      are all on line moving eastward. Today, while in Iraq, the Adjutant, Vance
      F. Stewart III, is promoted to Captain. He is the only Officer promoted
      during Desert Storm.                                                11


      28 Feb 91: The President calls for a cease-fire at 0800 hours local ending
      the '100 Hour War'. We stop taking PB pills and get out of MOPP. A/C/84 are
