         APPENDIX I (HEALTH SERVICES) to ANNEX D (Operations) to 3D MEDCOM
         FSOP


                           3. other containers will be chlorinated at the
         ratio of I ampule of chlorine per 36 gallons of clear water and 4
         to 6 ampules for cloudy or cold water.

                 (3) Mess sanitation:

                      (a) Indigenous foods and beverages including ice
         procured from local sources will not be served unless approved by
         the Command Surgeon.

                      (b) Indigenous labor:

                           (1) Indigenous personnel may be hired to
         perform KP duty. They will not be used in preparing or serving
         food under any circumstances.

                           (2) A pre-employment physical examination will
         be administered to all indigenous personnel by a medical officer
         prior to their employment consisting of the following:

                                  (a) Chest x-ray at 6-month intervals.

                                  (b) Examination of head, nose, and
         throat for acute diseases.

                                  (c) Examination of the entire body for
         acute diseases.

                                  (d) Examination of the stool for adult
         worms, ova, or cysts, at 3-month intervals.

                                  (e) Examination of the areas heavily
         covered by hair for spirochetal diseases.

                                  (f) Blood examination for syphilis and
         other spirochetal diseases at a 6-month interval.

                                  (g) Immunizations - same as initial
         series for military personnel in given geographical areas.

                           (3) Any evidence of acute, respiratory
         infection, active TB infestation, intestinal parasitic
         infestation, or positive blood serology is cause for exclusion
         from food handling areas.

                           (4) Daily morning physical inspections will be
         conducted of all mess personnel to include signs of illness, skin
         diseases, infected cuts, boils or pimples, general cleanliness,
         with special attention to the hands and fingernails.
