6. COMMUNICATRONS:
Optimal communication is the best defence against the rumor mill.
Towards that end, we need several items of equipment early on.
a. excellent PA system, inside and out
b. improved telephone communication capacity
c. typewriter, computer and copy machine set up the day the
admin tent is completed
d. reinforcement of communication with the written word (much
of our communications have been verbal) provides a permanent
record.
e. good quality portable PA system for meeting of CO/XO with
large numbers of staff.
Other strategies:
a. Utilize the chain of command, up and down to improve its
value
b. enforce policies equally and fairly between officers an,3
enlisted.
- c. printed agenda for Department Head meetings including a
synopsis of any information to be given out--followed by typed
minutes of meeting so there is a record of what transpired -
decrease frequency of Department Head meetings as soon as possible.
d. Captains Call every other week to decrease rumors and
misunderstandings between officer, enlisted and other corps.
e. From this experience draw up proposed duty rosters and
schedules and define duties and educate corarnand personnel on what
kind of extra duties are inevitable
f. based on experience, develop policies and protocol FH22 can
live by we'll have them ready next time!
7. INPATIENT NURSING SERVICE
As noted earlier, a major obstacle to standing up 14 wards was
gnment. It is hoped that a more comprehensive
picture of billet assignment will be a product of this evolution.
Function tean integrity revolves around knowing who is assigned to
what ward and what this mission encompasses, Should FH22 wish to
continue to work with the presently established function teams we
must reorganize the manner in which personnel are assigned to
billets and billets assigned to Detachment. Ramifications also
extend to a HDQTFS orchestrated training plan to allow function
teams to train together periodically at sights capable of
supporting the required learning experience.
Specific suggestions to consider:
a. nore physicians involved with training programs
b. development of alternative scheduling models for ward
cove-age and their inclusion in the SOP
c. emphasis on adequate billet fill for non medical rates.
d. integration of Physical Therapy Dept back into 500 bed
Corr.bat Hospital
