              contained the largest ASP constructed in USMC history. it

              covered 768 acres and contained 158 cells. The water supply

              point was filled to capacity, holding 796,000 gallons of

              potable water. The storage capacity for POL was 4.8

              million gallons.


              The DSC's two Engineer Support Battalions (7th and Sth) focused

              their efforts on constructing survivability positions and an

              ASP for DSO-2. !Okm northwest ol KHANJAR and CSSD-10, located

              30km East of KHANJAR. 7th Engineer Support Battalion

              constructed over 300 holes within 24 hours for the let Marine

              Division. Additionally, they dug in ll*lh Marines to support

              pre-bpoach prep Ilros, This operation was done ,rdep eneny

              fire. Both En84neer Support Battalions throughout this time

              were making improvements to 26 miles of LOC's between KHANJAR

              and the Xuwait border. After the initial minefield breaches

              both engineer battalions improved, marked, and widened the

              lanes. They also constructed and improved MSR's in trace of

              the Divisions. 7th Engineer Support Battalion was in trace of

              lst A(ARDIV and 8th Enginee- Support Battalion in trace of 2nd

              MARDIV.


              On 'G' Day the DSC was assigned the responsibility of
              collecting and transporting Enemy Prisoners of War (EPW) from
              forward collection points to CSSD-91. There were in excess of

              20,000 EPW's collected and transported during this period.
