successful recovery of remains. Factors such;as heat, animals, sand and
        wind can destroy the remains.
                  (6) (U) The NCF's combat support role will have units operating
in the trace of the combat units. This increases the probability of
finding remains of non-unit personnel. units finding remains will note the,
location and turn them over to the GRREG collection points established by
        the FSSG.
                  (7) @Enemy dead will be handled in the same manner as Allied
remains. They will be brought to the GRREG collection point with all their
personal effects. The collection point will turn then over to a Saudi
platoon assigned to receive and inter enemy dead.

        2- (U) XECUTION

             a. (U) Concept of operations.

                  (1) (U) Graves registration operations are intended to identify,
collect and evacuate the bodies to FSSG GRREG Collection Points. A
positive chain of custody must be established to maintain the identity of
the remains. Speedy processing is essential to establishing and
maintaining the identity and preventing decomposition. The most important
aspect of graves registration is positive, verifiable identification and
rapid transport to mortuary services facilities to delay the decomposition
        of the remains.

                  (2) (U) Each unit will establish a casualty collection point in
the vicinity of, but physically separated from the battalion aid station.
Aid stations will process deceased personnel who do not recover from
injuries, however, graves registration is a separate function.

                  (3) (U) After verification of death, the body will be transported
to a CSSE Collection Point to await transportation. Bodies will normally
ies from
the rear. Organic transportation can be used, but it is important to move
the body as quickly as possible because of the rapid decomposition of the
        remains.

                  (4) (U) CSSE GRREG Collection Points are collocated with the
collection and clearing companies and surgical support companies of the
medical battalions. At the collection points, the remains enter the graves
registration system. After initial processing, the remains are moved via
CSSE transportation to a collection point operated by a graves registration
        platoon.

                  (5) (U) FSSG graves registration personnel will, accept
responsibility for the disposition of deceased personnel from all sources
        including battalion aid stations.

                                                     UNCLASSIFIED
