          10 - USNAVLOGSUPFOR grants FH5 permission to purchase food
               through a Navy supply ship for items not available through
               the host nation or Army.

          13 - Commander Bill McDaniel, Head of Psychiatry at FH5 is
               interviewed by TIME magazine.

          14 - A memorial service was held on behalf of Reverend Martin
               Luther King, Jr.

          15 - Captain's Call is conducted in the MWR area for staff
               officers and enlisted. The following day, Captain's Call is
               conducted for enlisted.

          17 - Allied forces begin air assault on Iraqi forces. Operation
               Desert Shield is renamed Operation Desert Storm.

          18 - The First FSSG post office was moved and finance services
               were discontinued. Restrictions were placed on outgoing
               packages due to large backlog of mail.

          18 - Rear Admiral Sutton, COMUSNAVLOGSUPFOR, visited FH5 and
               conducted Admiralls Call for the staff.

          21 - The first Purple Heart recipient of the war, HM3 Clarence
               Conner, is admitted to ward 12 with a shrapnel wound to the
               right shoulder.

          25 - A Kuwaiti Naval officer is admitted to ward 6.

          31 - The first Iraqi EPW was admitted.

          31 - A total of 130 helicopter landings were conducted at FH5 for
               the month of January.

          31 - In the Pharmacy, 9,530 prescriptions were dispensed for the
               month of January.

          31 - The Navy exchange satisfied 5,028 customers, and grossed
               $37,495 in sales. The Barbershop satisfied 1,091 patrons.
               Laundry processed 4,834 pounds of staff and patient laundry,
               and 1,976 pounds of ward linen.

          31 - Materials division completes the most significant delivery
               of material since September 1990, receiving a total of 232
     pallets of material from MEDSOM, NSC Norfolk, USS Niagara
               Falls (AFS-3) and open purchase. Total line item count
               received is 400 at an approximate dollar value of one
               million dollars.
