2 A Marine Corps Mobile Post Office began making rounds at F115
every Saturday to provide financial services.
14 - The first FH5 Familygram is distributed, a monthly
publication recognizing the accomplishments of staff
personnel, to be sent to families and friends.
15 - Captaints Call is conducted for FH5 staff.
16 - PEOPLE magazine visits FH5 to do a story on trauma medicine.
18 - RADM Sutton, COMUSNAVLOGSUPFOR, visited FH5.
20 - Communications established a high frequency radio network
circuit to transfer medical management information such as
MEDSTAT and BLOODSTAT reports between military medical
treatment facilities and Fleet Hospitals in the AOA.
23 - A now darkroom for Radiology was constructed by the SeaBees
significantly increasing Radiology's X-ray processing
capabilities.
24 - Following the beginning of the ground war, the medical
Combat Correspondence Pool visited FH5 to cover the
arrival of the first combat casualties. Their media
products were the first coverage of the ground war to leave
theater following the lifting of the media embargo.
24 - FH5 implemented wartime operations in anticipation of the
ground war beginning and receiving mass casualties. All
even numbered wards that were previously closed were opened
and the staff began 12 hour shifts.
25 - Media coverage of FHS is the first media coverage to leave
the Desert Storm theater since the beginning of the ground
war.
28 - FH5 returned to pre-ground war operations following the
groat success of the ground war. Even numbered wards were
r shifts were discontinued.
28 - A Medical Casualty Clearing Company (MCCC) was established
at Jubail international Airport, staffed by medical
personnel from FH5 and Fleet Hospital 15. This
significantly increased the efficiency of processing combat
casualties from front line units to the Fleet Hospitals.
